Dad 1
I love this photo of my son and his children – I swiped it from his Facebook page – photo credit to BK. He’s a great Dad and the #1 really signifies his rank.
We have always been a “beach” kind of family – love the sea and the sand and warm sun on our faces. I grew up on the New England coast and spent many days at the beach in Connecticut and in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. My son’s wife is from a Massachusetts beach town and, so I hear, grew up with lobster sandwiches in her lunch box.
To all the Dad’s out there – Happy Father’s Day!

The Palace of Fine Arts – San Francisco
The Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco was constructed as a temporary attraction in playing host to the Panama-Pacific International Exposition, The Fair, which opened on February 20, 1915, San Francisco was honoring the discovery of the Pacific Ocean and the completion of the Panama Canal; it was also celebrating its own resurrection after the shattering earthquake and fire of 1906.
Those column-top statues of sorrowing (weeping) maidens turned away from prying eyes are using their tears to water the long-gone oaks that originally stood in the planters that they surround. One story I heard was that the tears were for the dead soldiers (lost love?) of the Panama Canal Zone war.
I like the romantic aspects of this.
Waiting, waiting, waiting – – –
12:34 PM EDT- My daughter is having a baby – TODAY, I HOPE!. She’s out in San Francisco – and as good as communications are these days – it ain’t good enough for me right now.
My princess has had contractions since very early Saturday morning and she’s wrung out. Here it is Tuesday! I can’t imagine the pain and discomfort she’s gone through. I just hope the little bundle from heaven comes real soon.
How do you spend your – dash
This is worth posting to any and all who might click and read it. The photographs are awesome too!!
Best wishes,
